From Kyiv to the international market

We have worked in the field of antique books since 2000. For more than two decades our path remained linked to Kyiv, a city where cultures, periods, printers and private libraries meet.

For many years the specialist Stara Knyha auction took place there. It became a meeting point for collectors, bibliophiles and people who look for a living contact with history through paper.

Beyond the transaction

Our interest never stopped at the sale. An antique book, a map or an engraving is not only a valuable object: it can be a forgotten page, the voice of a period, material evidence asking to be read again.

Today Patria carries this experience into a wider format: research, advisory work, selected auctions and private sourcing for clients who want to understand before they buy.

Restoring names and contexts

Across our work we have tried to bring lesser-known pages of art history, architecture, ethnography and cartography back into view. Behind a miniature, a yellowed sheet or a worn map there may be an entire world.

Forgotten artists, cartographers and printers, old city plans, costumes, editorial paths and family provenances become readable only when the object is studied with method.

Exhibitions, books, memory

Exhibitions of antique books and historical maps became part of our working method: not only aesthetics, but context. To exhibit is to make the cultural value of an object visible beyond a closed collection.

Alongside exhibitions we developed publishing projects and collector volumes dedicated to history, architecture, art and ethnography. The goal is to respect the original object and return its spirit to today's reader.

A research philosophy

Patria's philosophy is cautious: do not force promises, do not simplify what is complex, do not turn rarity into a slogan. Every object must be read through condition, provenance, bibliography, images, comparisons and documentary limits.
