Tatyana Yablonska

A graphic portrait sketch depicting a female face in a headscarf, executed with a confident, laconic line. The soft, almost sketch-like manner and the psychological interpretation of the image characteristic of Tatyana Yablonska lend the work an intimate, lyrical quality. Tatyana Yablonska (1917–2005) was an outstanding Ukrainian artist, People's Artist of the USSR, and a master of genre painting and portraiture. Her work, recognized with the USSR State Prize and the title of Hero of Ukraine, became one of the pinnacles of 20th-century Ukrainian art.
