Regulation or Decree of His Imperial All-Russian Majesty, on how scholars should always conduct themselves properly and obediently in the Academy
"Regulation or Decree of His Imperial All-Russian Majesty, on how scholars should always conduct themselves properly and obediently in the Academy.
Printed in Saint Petersburg, in April, on the [illegible] day, 1716, 10 pages.
Laid paper, early printed type (civil type of the Petrine era).
This edition represents a printed decree (regulation) of Peter I, addressed to students of the Academy — a document regulating the rules of conduct and internal order for scholars. The text instructs students on how "to conduct themselves properly and obediently always in the Academy."
The edition was printed in St. Petersburg in April 1716 — during the period of active reform of the education system in Russia, when Peter I was creating secular educational institutions and introducing new disciplinary norms. The decree reflects the style of direct administrative regulation and concern for student discipline characteristic of the Petrine era.
This is an exceptionally rare edition of the Petrine era, belonging to the category of early Russian civil printed decrees. Such documents were printed in small print runs for official and practical use, were not intended for sale, and have survived poorly to this day. This decree is a primary source on the history of Russian education and the internal order of educational institutions of the early 18th century, as well as a valuable monument of the history of Russian civil printing. For museums, collectors, and historians specializing in the Petrine era, this edition is of exceptional interest.
