On the Contemporary Movement in the Science of Law: A Speech Delivered at the Annual Meeting of the Law Society at St. Petersburg University, 14 February 1882
Pakhman S. V. «On the Contemporary Movement in the Science of Law: A Speech Delivered at the Annual Meeting of the Law Society at St. Petersburg University, 14 February 1882.» — St. Petersburg: Printing House of the Governing Senate, 1882, 68 p.
A lifetime edition. A programmatic speech by the outstanding Russian civil law scholar S. V. Pakhman, delivered at the annual meeting of the Law Society. The publication was printed at the Printing House of the Governing Senate. This is not merely an academic work, but a lifetime publication that for a long time remained the subject of lively scholarly controversy — the well-known legal scholar S. A. Muromtsev spoke out in criticism of Pakhman's views. It is of exceptional interest both to historians of law and to collectors who assemble libraries of Russian jurists of the 19th century.
Semyon Vikentievich Pakhman (1825–1910) was a well-known Russian civil law scholar, privy councillor, senator (from 1882) and honored professor (of St. Petersburg, Kazan and Kharkov universities). One of the founders of the St. Petersburg Law Society; holder of the Count Speransky Prize for the fundamental two-volume work "Customary Civil Law in Russia" (1877, 1879). A consistent representative of formal-logical dogmatic jurisprudence.
