Fishermen with Zander
The Patria catalogue records this lithograph as «Fishermen with Pike-Perch» under the name Oleksa Novakivskyi and dates it 1965; the precise attribution remains under specialist verification. The composition is dominated by heavy nets, around which the figures of the fishermen and the boat's mast intertwine.
The contrast between black and white creates an intense graphic rhythm, alternating deep shadows with sudden flashes of light. The figures merge with the nets and waves, transforming the scene into a powerful allegory of the struggle between humanity and nature. The work concentrates energy, tension and the sense of an ancient ritual in a single image.
This work was exhibited in «Graphic Art of the Soviet and Post-Soviet Period» and is reproduced in the exhibition catalogue. Germany, 2025.
