Nadiia Lopukhova
Harvesting Wheat
«Harvesting Grain».
In this lithograph, the harvest is transformed into a choreography of rhythm and strength. The female figures, constructed from geometric forms and dynamic diagonals, merge with the movement of the ears of grain and the wind. The contrast between black and white accentuates the composition's energy, while collective labour becomes a symbol of the power of the land and the spirit of an entire era.
This work was exhibited in «Graphic Art of the Soviet and Post-Soviet Period» and is reproduced in the exhibition catalogue. Germany, 2025.
Artist biography
Nadiia Lopukhova (1928-2014) was a Ukrainian graphic artist, illustrator and book artist. She studied at the Kyiv State Art Institute from 1948 to 1954 and graduated from the book graphics workshop with an excellent diploma project.
From the mid-1950s she worked with Ukrainian publishing houses including Molod, Dytvydav/Veselka and Dnipro. Lopukhova participated in republican and all-Union exhibitions and is known for bright, lyrical illustrations and works of easel graphics preserved in Ukrainian museum collections.
