Over the Dnipro
«On the Dnieper».
In this gouache by Ivan Batechko, the broad course of the Dnieper dominates the composition, while the figure of a young woman in the foreground introduces an intimate, contemplative dimension.
The decorative rhythm of the landscape, the lines of the bridge and the rich chromatic range convey the majesty of the river and the profound bond between humanity and nature, transforming an everyday scene into an image of intense poetry.
This work was exhibited in «Graphic Art of the Soviet and Post-Soviet Period» and is reproduced in the exhibition catalogue. Germany, 2025.
