Sculpture «Boy and Girl Reading», early 20th century, stone. Dimensions: 57 cm.

A rare genre composition depicting a touching moment of shared reading. The girl rests one hand naturally on the boy's shoulder in a gesture of affection and trust, while he slowly follows the lines of the open book with his index finger, as though reading aloud or helping her to follow the text.

It is precisely these details that make the sculpture extraordinary. While most comparable compositions simply depict two children seated beside one another, here the artist has created a genuine dialogue, a living interaction and a shared rhythm. Reading thus becomes an adventure experienced together, a moment of closeness and mutual trust.

The work is also distinguished by its intense emotional power: the gentle poses, spontaneous gestures and concentrated expressions lend the scene an extraordinary naturalness. Every detail is carved with great skill, from the folds of the clothing and strands of hair to the pages of the book. The state of preservation is excellent, enhanced by a noble patina of age.

A sculpture of this quality is a true rarity on the antiques market. It represents a prestigious acquisition for any collection and would enhance a study or library, reminding us that reading is, above all, a dialogue.
