An important work devoted to the military operations of the Pshecha Detachment during the final phase of the Caucasian War. Drawing on archival documents and personal observations, the author, Konstantin Konstantinovich Gejns, describes in detail the campaigns conducted between October 1862 and November 1864.
First published as a series of articles in Voennyj sbornik in 1866, the text subsequently appeared as a separate volume. The work describes battles, combat tactics in mountainous terrain, and the process of Russian consolidation in the conquered territories.
