Theory of Industrial Law
Ch. Waelbroeck, Theory of Industrial Law: On the Right of State Intervention in Labour in General and Manufacturing Industry in Particular. Translated from the French, with a preface by Iv. Gracianskij. St Petersburg, V. Gracianskij and Co. Lithographic Printing House, 1873. [8], 151 pp.
A rare Russian edition translated from the French, among the earliest works devoted to economic and industrial law. The author, the French jurist C.F. Waelbroeck, addresses the limits of state intervention in the spheres of labour and manufacturing.
Based on an analysis of Western European legislation, the work was especially timely for post-reform Russia as it embarked upon industrialisation.
Printed in St Petersburg by the V. Gracianskij lithographic printing house, the edition is a bibliographic rarity of considerable interest to collectors of the history of law and nineteenth-century economic thought.
