Statute of Civil Procedure
V.I. Bukovskij, Civil Procedure Statute, with Amendments and Additions through 1924. Riga, Valters and Rapa, 1925.
A fundamental legal edition compiled by Vladimir Iosifovich Bukovskij, the eminent jurist who would later become a professor at the University of Latvia and a senator of the Latvian Republic.
The volume provides a systematic presentation of the rules of civil procedure in the Baltic and post-imperial context. Following his work in the district courts of Riga and Mitava and his important studies of the local law of the Baltic provinces, Bukovskij took part in the Latvian Ministry of Justice commission charged with drafting the new statute.
Printed in Riga by the publishing house Valters and Rapa, the 1925 edition is a rare record of the history of civil procedure in the Baltic region and of the evolution of law after the end of the Russian Empire.
