The first scholarly publication of the celebrated memoirs of one of the earliest Russian women writers of the eighteenth century, produced at the expense of Count S.D. Sheremetev from the original manuscript, with the author's orthography faithfully preserved.

Princess Natal'ja Dolgorukaja wrote these memoirs in a convent in 1767 for her eldest son, recounting her tragic life with rare candour: her engagement to the favourite of Peter II, her fall from favour, exile in Siberia, the death of her husband, and the fidelity she maintained to the end.

An edition of great elegance, with fine paper, refined wrappers, portraits of the princess in secular and monastic dress, and a facsimile of the manuscript. Published in a limited edition, it is a notable bibliographic rarity and a copy of great value to collectors of memoirs and Russian history.
